"I was introduced to Quilting at the Kansas City Art Institute by my former professor Kim-Eichler Messmer. The process of quilting instantly clicked with my intuitive way of working and language of color. It was simply a natural way of executing my drawings and digital designs onto a textile. It’s always exciting for me to watch a drawing take on the form of a quilt. So much changes and there are always fun discoveries."

"There are many things that inspire me and drive my work. I love art deco, art nouveau, 60’s mid century modern design, looking at architecture and nature. I am also inspired by music and the way it can coincide with visual art. Music and art are the two largest driving forces in my life. I am constantly listening to music while creating a quilt. The movement of the music helps me keep a design flow and set a therapeutic rhythm to my practice. I always begin with hand dyeing all of my fabrics based on my drawing, then slowly piecing them together to bring my compositions to life. Every time I create a quilt, I learn something new and it is the most rewarding outcome to hang a quilt up."

"Always remember that you can put your mind to do anything you tell it. It is never too late to start something and be patient with yourself through any creative process. Just like life, creativity ebbs and flows. Ride the wave and give yourself grace. Lastly, it can take many attempts to make something good. Bad art is the only way to good art so let yourself make bad art!"
